Holding on to God's hand.

Imagine a father and his child are walking on the side walk together. It's a nice day and they are having a good conversation when all of the sudden the child trips, stumbles over a default in the pathway. No problem, because the child was holding the father's hand he didn't fall to his face, and hurt himself. As they walk further the beauty that once filled the sky is beginning to turn gray and a few rain drops start to fall. No problem, the father knew that the rain was coming and pulled out an umbrella to sheild them from the storm. Now, it became clear to the child why the father had tied the rain jacket around his waist! The storm passes, the sun begins to shine again and they begin to talk of other issues besides the storm. Their destination is still unsure to the child but he still follows along with the father. Occasionaly the child gets side tracked by something that attracts his eye and runs to that thing. The father calls to the child and patiently awaits as the child returns. At times He has to call to the child several times and even go to where the child is to retrieve him. No worries to the father though because they are back on to their destination. Now, the child gets destracted by something flashy and runs to see what it is; as he's running he trips again in a rough spot on the ground. This time the child falls hard and scrapes himself pretty good. The child crys out not knowing that the father was right on his heels and is right there to pick him up and comfort him. After afew moments of gently tending to the scrapes the father carries the child a little ways until He see's that the child is able to walk again. Once again, the child see's the importance of staying close to and holding his fathers hand while they are on this journey. As they go to cross a street a truck, that doesn't see them, is about to run the child over! The father takes quick action, while their two hands gripping each others tightly, and He pulls the child to safety. Crisses overted! After talking and rejoicing for their safety, about what had just happened, they continue on their journey; that has now become an adventure. Now, the child is accutely aware of the importance of staying close to the father, holding His hand and following His instructions. When they return home that day the child tells his siblings of all the things that had occured and they tell their stories of adventure with their father as well. This is how our walk with God, our Father, should be. When we are holding tightly to his hand, the other is protecting us from anything that would come to harm us; and He is there telling us "do not fear, I will help you." We should never forget to hold onto God's hand, trusting in His way and that He is there to help us!
