Romans 1:1
We all love titles...we use them every day. I'm a Senior Pastor...she's a Vice President of Marketing...he's a Director of Facilities. All titles are used to define who we and what we do. They also are at times there to establish importance. I wonder how many us would be happy with the title of "Slave"? I can't imagine telling someone, "My name is Chris Elrod...and I'm a slave". Yet that is exactly what Paul did here. He began the letter with his name...and his title...a slave to Christ Jesus. The humility and unselfishness it must have taken to say such a thing. Such a simple and humble opening to a letter...but such a powerful statement to all of us that label ourselves followers of Jesus Christ!!!
