Depravity
Even though God destroyed the evil in the whole world with a flood and provided a "fresh start" for Noah and his family, and even though we are made in the image of God, we are still infected with this disease called sin. Fresh off the boat Noah, who God called a blameless man (Gen. 6:9), makes a mistake. The bible shows that our sin has consequences not only for us but it also impacts those who are close to us. Ham's attitude revealed a lack of respect for his father and ultimately for God (NLT Life Application study notes). We must remind ourselves that our sin will negatively impact our family and must do all we can to be good examples for our children.
