Never pay full price?
Haven't we heard that before?! Few people pay the full price for an investment these days. And the smart folks look at those that do as if fools have found gold. "If they knew any better, then they wouldn't have paid full price."
You get the point.
David didn't fall into the trap of negotiating for a better price. You could say he had every right as the king of Iz to just take this land without paying a dime. Instead of taking advantage of his position he chose to use his wealth to be a blessing to the landowner and bring glory to God with a personal sacrifice.
That leads me to wonder...
Does my personal sacrifice bring glory to God? Am I trying to get by and not pay full price? Does my "sacrifice" take advantage of someone or bless them? Am I abusing my position or influence?
Prayerfully we come to the same resolution as David, "I insist on paying full price."
