Deliver Me

This Psalm starts with David asking for God take revenge on his enemies and to rescue him. He describes the kind of persistent oppression and betrayal he’s been facing. At the time this is written he says he’s gaunt from fasting. His initial request to God is “do not remain silent.” How many times had he asked God for justice or rescue and the situation continued? Yet David doesn’t lose faith in God’s love or power, but humbly continues to reach out in his cries for help and justice. There isn’t a hint of doubt in his petition, but rather he praises and extols God’s goodness and love. Let us reflect on this faith when we face our trials and times of need, and look to our loving Father for our help.
