Understanding my wealth

Psalm 49:18-20 paints a wonderful picture of what role wealth plays in our lives. We should count it as a blessing. More specifically, we should understand what role wealth plays in our lives because if we don't, we are like the beasts that perish. This seems like an easy task, however, it is so complicated to only view your personal riches as blessing and not make it into an idol. I love to shop, go out to eat, go to movies, and spend money on fun activities and vacations. Not that doing any of these things is wrong, but if I do not wholeheartedly acknowledge the giver and realize that all of my stuff is His, not mine, ALL of it, then I have missed the point. I pray that I will understand my intentions when I spend money and realize where the money came from in the first place, and more importantly seek and ask how I should spend money instead of just doing whatever the heck I want with it! I also find it interesting that the passage says we will be praised when we do well for ourselves. This is so true. There are people, including myself, who praise people for the things they have and attribute it to what an amazing job someone has, or they have done so well for themselves. This so so false, and I want to look at other people's things as their blessings, too. Not what they have done either. I say this only because it is easy to become jealous of someone else's possessions.
