My inheritance is GOD... AMAZING!!! (by Musings of a Pilgrim)
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. Ps. 16:5
What a declaration! What an amazing way to live a life! This is the essence of the Christian walk. That our joy, our delight and our satisfaction comes from one source and once source only - God! Of course this does not mean that we can't enjoy other things in this beautiful world God has created. For when created Adam and Eve, he also asked them to enjoy the Garden of Eden and each other. However, we do acknowledge all the source of these things from God.
PORTION
This means our inheritance, what has been set aside for us. Isn't it amazing that God Himself is our inheritance? We don't just get the golden egg but the goose that lays it! :D I am not saying this to be facetious but doesn't this just blow your mind!!! Just pause (selah) and ponder upon this amazing thought. God is my portion.
MY CUP
The cup is where we drink from when we are thirsty (or just want to enjoy/taste a good beverage). What is it in your life that refreshes and sustains you? Where do you go to when you are thirsty? Is God Himself your source of sustenance and enjoyment?
MY LOT SECURE
God is the one that keeps your inheritance secure. Jesus says that no one is able to snatch you out of His hands (Jn 10:28). Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom 8:38-39). God is the one that holds us in His hands and will fight for us.
So my dearest friends, can you make the same declaration of your life. That God is the your inheritance, your source of sustenance and joy, for He is the one that defends you and holds you in His hands.
