hope

I just love how even in the middle of incredible turmoil, David goes to God- "the altar of God, my greatest joy." I love that. An altar is a place to kill things- for us, our wills. That isn't often "our greatest joy" but most definitely should be. It's just so easy in times of trial (or in times where we faced with dying to sin in any way) to avoid God. When we feel hopeless or depressed, there's usually some distance between us and the Lord that we need to close in on. Seems like a tough time can either be the thing that causes us to run from God or it can be the thing that pushes us to run straight for Him and push. I hope I always resort to the latter. Yeah, avoidance of an issue is easier but it never solves anything. I want to be like David- he just talks himself (literally) into hoping.
