What are You Doing and Why?

I think that sometimes we forget that the Church has had conflict in it sense its inception. Peter comes back from worshiping with the Gentiles. Something that he was initially against but through a vision and a divine appointment his attitude was changed. After he returns to his peers he is questioned and looked upon as if he has betrayed his faith. I suppose from his peers perspective it would have looked that way.

Lets not look at the; part where he is questioned lets look at his response. He does not say to his peers, "I dont need to explain myself it was God and if you cant see that then its your loss."

I feel like he steps back, remembers he was exactly where his peers were not that long ago and explains what happened from start to finish.

What is really amazing is how the Holy Spirit does all the work in this story. Peter simply tells what he went through, and in verse 18 they fell silent and worshiped God that the Gentiles had discovered the Gospel. What ever the Holy Spirit did through Peter telling the story it moved the hearts of everyone on this council to a place where there was not further questioning or doubt. How often does that happen at a Church meeting?

When on the front of a new wave people will ask you what you are doing and why.

Its important to take notes from this story.

1. Its Gods battle to win not yours

2. Don't become offended, (God knows I would have been offended if I were in Peter's shoes in this situation)

3. Keep in mind where others a coming from. Peter was where his peers were only a few days before this.
