My Magnificat

This passage of scripture is referenced by many as the "Magnificat". "Magnificat" is the Latin verb for glorifies. It is used to describe Mary's choice to glorify and praise God because of His favor toward her and Israel. Mary begins with a declaration of praise and then an explanation of why God should be praised.

Each of us should be able to write our own "Magnificat" to God. My soul gives glory to the Lord. My spirit takes great pleasure in God my savior. He took note of me from before my birth, even though I was not from a well to do family or city. From all of my friends who grew up with me, He decided to keep me and use me for His glory. The Mighty One has indeed done great things for me. His name is holy. He shows mercy to those who abandon and reject Him from generation to generation. He has done mighty things with His arm and power. He has baffled the intellectually elite and elevated those who are considered fools because they believe in Him. He has demonstrated again and again that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He continues to bring down rulers and governments. He continues to lift up those who society has deemed unimportant. He has given grace to those who are oppressed. He has helped Israel and other nations. He is full of mercy and His love is steadfast. He continues to be kind to people from the ghetto and those in the suburbs. He is patiently giving everyone time to repent so that none would be lost. All praise be to the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth, the Father of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
