Nets
The nets were everything to Peter. They represent his livelihood, his successfulness, and his identity. Peter's life revolved around his nets. They were important to him and his family.
Jesus asking Peter to go deeper and let down his nets. Peter's family business is fishing. He knows when and where the best places are to catch fish. They just returned from an unsuccessful evening of fishing and now he was almost finished with cleaning the nets and Jesus tests his faith.
Jesus called Peter to go deeper and let go of his nets. What are your "nets" in life? What are the things you cling to for your livelihood, successfulness, and identity? What do you need to "let go of" in order to go deeper with Jesus? What sacrifices will you need to make in order to follow, listen to, and obey Jesus?
What is keeping you from going deeper with Jesus? What are the things that we cling to instead of pursuing Jesus? Identify and begin to let go of those things in your life that are keeping you from going deeper in your relationship with Jesus!
