Bible Myth
People often misquote this verse. You've heard it said that "money is the root of all evil", however, this verse clearly states it is the LOVE of money that is root of all kinds of evil. In fact money is not evil; it can be used to help God's Kingdom grow, to serve those in need and to support our churches and pastors.
This verse speaks of greed because loving money can lead us down the wrong path; a path away from God and toward selfish desires. Envy, immorality, stealing, hurting others and lying are the fruit of greed. Paul cautions us here to avoid this path.
