The "weird" and "crazy" life (by Musings of a Pilgrim)
Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. (Ps. 54:4)
The Christian life is not an easy one. When you choose to pick up the cross daily to follow Jesus (Lk 9:23), when you choose to go through the small gate and travail the narrow path (Mt 7:14), you have chosen a road less travelled. It is a life that is not walked by our own strength but by the Spirit of God (Zech 4:6). We walk by faith, not by sight (2 Cor 5:7).
Sometimes your decisions in obedience to Christ stands in stark contrast to those who are not obedient to Christ. As a result, people may think of you as "weird" or even "crazy". After all, we are called to be aliens and strangers in this world (1 Pet 2:11). In fact, I can point to a few people around me that seems to live their life in such a way that even their own family and friends would criticise them for their choices. And yet, this uniqueness that these people carry seems strangely attractive. For in them, we see a life that is surrendered totally to God. A life that carries living waters to the thirsty and light into the darkness. And deep within the core of every one of these people is the sustaining power of God. God is so real to them. God is so central in everything they do.
Where is God leading your life today? Does it seem so "weird" and "crazy" to be in obedience to what God has in store for you? Let Him be your help and sustainer in this time.
