The Pleasure in the Pain
Yet the Lord was pleased to crush Him severely. When You make Him a restitution offering, He will see [His] seed, He will prolong His days, and by His hand, the Lord's pleasure will be accomplished. (Isaiah 53:10 HCSB)
As a man, I of course have never experienced the pain of childbirth, but I have witnessed it twice as my wife endured bearing our sons Gideon and Boaz. And she can tell you, its like nothing else!
Then my Chaplain friend explained today about a pain that trumps even the pain of child birth by posting on Facebook: "the deepest pain in life is the death of a child, and that "Christmas is about the birth AND death of a Child."
As I contemplated that, I thought of this verse, and wrote that this prophecy really blows my mind -- since God must have felt an even greater pain to turn His back on His son as Jesus took on Himself the sin of the entire world! -- And yet it PLEASED Him!
I just think of David Crowder's song and sing along... "He Loves Us! Oh how He loves us...."
Oh how God loves us... He loves us, so!!!
And I sing with Hillsong United:
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard the depths of Your love Lord, no mind can fathom, the love You deserve, how great You are!!!"
Worship God.
