Contrite Heart

This passage spoke to me today as i have been struggling with sin in my own life. I think David gives us a model with which to follows. We must first cry for mercy...i know in my own life i don't see sin as God sees it. When we do see it that way, we know we need mercy. In that same line of thinking we must acknowledge-- our sin and who we have sinned against. Name and own the sin. Thirdly, and i think most encouraging, is the fact that David shows in verse 7 how cleansing must come from God. It is not through intense human effort, but only from the One who can totally cleanse us.
One other point i see in these verses--there is a point for us to be made clean--so that we can help others. Verse 13 says that upon his cleansing David will teach others the ways of God.
I am so glad God does not leave us filthy....
