true fast

I love this passage! so often rleigious people make fasting out to be a somber sacrement that deals only with self deprecation of food. God calls His people to a higher standard - fast from injustice, fast from selfish use of your money fast from a lack of compassion. it reminds me of the passage when Jesus talks about the least of these - you gave them water that were thirsty, food to true hungry, visited the sick and in prison. what has been done to the least of these was done to Jesus.

this passage challenges me to follow God with a greater determination of heart, to not simply fast from food - which can only ne done oft a while - but to fast from the greater spiritual detractor in my life selfishness and my sense of entitlement.

nothing I have is mine - I am a steward and will be held accountable oft how I have managed...
