Confused by the actual resurrection

The disciples are found in this verse trying to make sense of Jesus' words to not mention his transfiguration until after his rising from the dead. The disciples hone in on this strange phrase, trying to spiritualize it or understand his metaphor. (The same that many theologians do today.) When Jesus went through the actual resurrection, it caught them off guard!
