Romans 8:28, a very misunderstood verse. Paul wrote the letter with full knowledge of the dangers that awaited him in Jerusalem. He entrusted Phoebe (16:1), a deacon, to deliver his letter to the persecuted church at Rome who had awaited him for some time (1:8). They knew Paul would face grave danger in Jerusalem (the city were Christ was crucified) and feared his safety. Paul said "in all things, God works"..... NOT that God causes all things or even works all things out as believers in Rome were fed to Lions, and history records that when Paul did reach Rome as a prisoner that he was beheaded by Nero, and Paul knew his fate but didn't worry about his own danger "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for it is the power to Salvation, first for the Jew and then for the Gentile".... that is Paul explaining to the church at Rome why he had to go to Jerusalem, and God did not work "all things out for Paul's health and wealth." He used Paul's suffering and courage to strengthen the church in Jerusalem and in Rome. I really believe this is one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible, the man who was inspired to write it, knew he was going to be arrested and was ultimately beheaded. This paper details and explains the Greek very well.
