Grace, Grace, Grace

I used to think that in today's age of Grace, that we were the lucky ones. That people before Jesus came had to work so hard to be good....but they didn't realize it was all a set up. They didn't realize that God's laws were there simply to show us that we could not keep them and that when Jesus came, all would be good because His sacrifice, and our acceptance of the incredible gift of Hs perfect life and death was all that was needed to be "saved".

This is true.... As evidenced by the death of the thief next to Jesus on the cross who Jesus said would 'meet Him in paradise.

But, the middle part still bothered me. The fact that Jesus is said to be the same yesterday, today and forever. Does that mean that, now, since He has graciously provided a way for us to be saved, that now He doesn't mind if we are loosey goosey Christians. Is He more mellow, now, with age? When He comes back to earth to establish His kingdom, will he wink at sin and acknowledge that at least we are trying?

I don't think so.

Jude, verse 4, jumped out at me today.

The Holy Spirit's whole purpose in coming to this planet after Jesus' ascension into heaven was for one purpose.... To enable us to be like Jesus. To give us the opportunity, the chance, the potential privilege of being one of Jesus' Holy Ones. Holy Spirit came to assist us in what was required to be the Bride of Christ. It is correct that we can not do this without Gods grace and Gods power, but that is why Holy Spirit came in the first place. To give us that power by helping us become unencumbered by repetitive sin. By helping us become more like Him. By blessing us with a potentially awesome fulfilling relationship with 'God in us'

Help me Lord understand. Help me respond. Help me be Your Holy One.
