This is such a plea from God. I think many don't realize that God desires us. He wants relationship with us. He wants to take care of us, to feed us, to guide us, to protect us, etc. But when we don't listen and obey His commands, we keep Him from being able to do so. Stubborness is really us just trying to be the god of our own situations. I think God desires to step in and help but His hands are tied. His intentions are that we would follow His ways- He's always provided Right, children of Israel? Easy to forget the zillion ways God did miracles on your behalf, huh? Ahh, but we can't judge. We can be so stubborn about things in our lives that we actually keep God from being able to move. Guess you have to really let go of the wheel completely if you expect God to steer this thing.
