Silly rabbit, tricks are for Israelites

I've often thought- Oh if only so-and-so could see some sort of miracle, they would serve God. If only they could see God move in a big way, He would have all of their affection. Clearly, this is incorrect. I mean, just look at the children of Israel- Gos did amazing things for them- parted waters, killed their enemies, delivered them from captivity, fed them with heavenly food, sent plagues to enemies, guided them with a bush adn a cloud, etc. The list goes on and on. And still this crew turned from God on what seemed like a regular basis. How? How did they do this when awesome things were being performed in their very presence? But what about us? How do we still allow hardness to even be in our hearts considering all that has been done for us. No, I'm not about heaping condemnation on our heads but man. We are just like those Israelites- stubborn. We've been set free, saved from death, allowed relationship directly to God, healed, redeemed, set apart, delivered, made new, etc. This list goes way on for us, too. And yet, we stray. I think of those that I've often thought the "If onlys" about- what I wish would happen in their lives that would somehow "make" them serve God. But it wouldn't. God isn't here to perform in order that we might be convinced He's worth serving. Our faith precedes it all. Regardless of whether He ever does anything for me ever again, what He's already done is more than enough. My faith that He is God and He is good- that's my reason.
