1 Samuel 14

-Pretty amazing detail in the names of all that are documented in v3.
-Jonathan had a lot of "moxy". He trusted the Lord to go before him.
-The Lord went before him. Jonathan believed and the Lord allowed them victory
-Saul then leads Israel to defeat the philistines after Jonathan's faith led them into battle.
-V35 - Saul builds an altar to the Lord. He'd obviously seen what God had done among them and wanted to thank God.
-Then word gets out that Jonathan tasted some food - against the order of his father, but the men of the army stick up for him and he is not killed/dealt with.
-Saul continued to war with the Philistines all the days of his reign.

Throughout this chapter there seems to be many inconsistencies with Saul and Jonathan. They wanted to honor God, yet I'm not convinced they knew what to do. They were "winging" it. Because they were on the side of God and Israel, they were victorious. I think this serves as a reminder that we can be grateful that we are on God's side, but we must continue to pursue him, learn about him and try to understand what his will is for our lives.
When we pray, we need to ask God and BELIEVE that he will answer. We shouldn't "wing" it.
