Worldly Sorrow

Paul, in his letter to Macedonia, spoke very harshly, you may say, to these people. He told it like it was, it came right out and exposed their sins. It must have been hard for Paul to do that, but his intentions were even greater. He knew it would bring pain, he knew it would hurt them, but he also knew it would bring godly sorrow. What was the result of speaking boldly on their life sin? It led to repentance. It led them to change their ways.

True repentance birthed out of sorrow, leads you to change your ways. But what is sorrow that doesn't lead to a change of heart, a change of ways? Worldly Sorrow. A kind of sorrow where you come to God and are sorry, for what you have done, maybe you even tell him you are done with that in your life, but then go back and continue to do the same thing. Continuing to live in sin, therefore lacking repentance. What does Paul tell us this results in? Spiritual Death. I believe so many of us do that today. We go to God, and ask for forgiveness, and tell him we're sorry for all we've done, and walk out the door into our same life. This tears us apart. This breaks our relationship with the living God. True sorrow leads to repentance and a change of ways. God wants you to experience His grace today. Get on your face before God, truly sorry for what you have done, and let him heal you. Let him produce in you a kind of sorrow that leads you away from sin and results in salvation.
Cry out to Him. Hear this, and let him cleanse you.
