The Litmus Test
This passage of scripture would seem to demonstrate that we can tell if our mind is set on Christ by three tests, or evidences that sure enough, our mind is where it should be.
1. We commit (full on) to Him.
2. We lean (trust only) on Him.
3. We hope confidently in Him. This one is particularly interesting because on first blush it seems like incompatible terms. The word "hope" indicates a certain level of uncertainty in the result, but followed up with "confidently", we must settle raise the bar on the confidence in our hope.
