He means what He says
Can you say "I told you so?" Jesus rebuked his disciples for not believing that He was alive, for allowing their hearts to become hardened. He told them that He would rise again and they didn't believe. I gotta be honest- I would've been one to get rebuked. It's easy to believe His words will come to pass when the circumstance leans that way. But Jesus was dead. Things were looking bleak. I imagine those three days were probably the longest of their lives. I'm sure there was shock, disbelief that it ever happened and of course, ultimate sadness. In that state of hopelessness, it would be hard to think- "Wait a minute, He said He'd rise! Let's go grab some pizza." But this is the kind of faith Jesus wants us to have- faith when the situation does not lend itself to working out in our favor, faith when it looks bleak, fiath when you can't see any way out, faith in the middle of the night. He always does what he says He'll do. I feel like I pray it all the time but God, help me with my unbelief!
