1 Samuel 15 - Saul rejected

V. 3, 8-9 - Saul was given clear direction by the Lord through Samuel. When in battle - he did MOSTLY what the Lord said, but not all... sparing Agag and the best sheep and cattle. He did NOT carry out the instructions completely.

Am I guilty of partially following the Lord's instructions? Search me God.
V12 - PRIDE! Saul sets up a monument in his own honor.
V. 14-22 - Samuel confronts Saul on his actions. Saul tries to defend what he's done. He tries to justify his actions, making their intent sound spiritual.
Saul is then stripped of his leadership because of his actions. His remorse does not negate the consequences of his actions. Saul worships the Lord but is still severed from his leadership and from Samuel. Samuel finishes the work God had commanded him to do by taking down Agag.
V.35 - It is interesting to me that the Lord is grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel. Certainly, God is sovereign, and must have known this outcome before it happened, yet he was still grieved. God wants us to love him and keep his commands. I think he knows that we will mess up, and it grieves him when we do.
