1 Sam 18 - Saul jealous of David

The people were becoming fond of David in a hurry. It seems Saul spent more time worrying about what others thought of him then actually governing. David returns from battle with Saul and the people ascribe more victory to David than Saul. Saul plots to kill David and harbors hatred against him. In the end he ends up giving his daughter to him in marriage if he'll go to the Philistines again in battle. Saul was hoping David would be killed in battle, but David returns to marry his daughter. And Saul grows even more "afraid" of David.

The application for us... is we need to spend more time worrying what GOD thinks of us, and trying to please him, than we should try to please the world. The world will let us down every time. The world can bring you to your knees in submission, yet kicks you when your down. Today I want to get my Glory and my worth from being a Christ-follower...so that all glory can go to him. Saul proved us humans can't handle the glory anyway.
