God gets more mileage out of the bumps than the smooth road.
What we feel & how we pray in the midst of uncertainty reveals our alliances.
Phil 4.4-7
Paul rejoices _in the lord_. This is the deal maker. Attach your emotions not to the circumstances in life but to the lord. If we don't plan or get intentional, it won't happen.
Don't mistake that because things seem bad, god's not here.
Then Paul give us the secret to counter anxiety. In everything, pray. But he doesn't just say that. "Pray" seems pedantic or patronizing. Of course we're to pray. But the real secret is "present." Present here means to reveal. This is different than praying for a job or spouse. It's to spend enough time with god that we discover what we really want and need. Job=my need for identity. Spouse=my need for companionship. Health=my need for security. These are the deepest prayers. And when we bring these to god, his ia when he truly works. This is the prayer that god wants to hear.
This takes tremendous time and intentionality. The result is peace. Peace comes when qlwe'vw taken time to allow god to deeply search our hearts.
Therefore pray:
"Heavenly father, I need you to ___.
Because I'm afraid if u don't ___."
This will reveal our deepest fear & uncertainty & god will meet us there.
