Why is Babel so bad?
Genesis 11:4 here records two reasons that God was so offended by the building of the Tower of Babel.
1) "Let us make a name for ourselves" - Man and woman are the image bearers. When we set out to draw attention to ourselves and to make ourselves great, we stop pointing people to Him whose image we bear.
2) "Lest we be dispersed" - But dispersion was always the goal! "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth." To gather together and set up shop was the opposite of the mandate to fill the earth with God's image.
