1 Sam 22 - Saul continues to fester with anger

Saul continues to fester with anger against David "the son of Jesse" in this chapter. David remains on the run but is building a rather loyal following (now up to 400 men). Saul is a Jealous king. In v. 17-18 - he orders the priest Ahimelech and his family killed for helping David. Some of Saul's men wouldn't touch the priest. One of Ahimelech's sons escapes the wrath and goes to David to inform him of what's going on. David realizes that many were killed because of him and encourages this informant to to stay with him.
Sauls pride and jealousy is turning people away from him. The exact thing that Saul was trying to prevent is being escalated by his actions and attitude. Do we push people away from God due to our actions? our attitudes? Is there any pride in us that we should confess before God.
