The message arrived with power. Emphasis on the holy spirit. The life Paul modeled was a compelling apologetic for the truth of this gospel.

The gospel is a game changer. A life changer. Rom 1:16. Thesis of the book of Romans

Not just a method of being good. It radically changes us to a new creation. We are now apart of his ekklesia.

Fruit of the spirit.
Context of persecution and severe suffering. " if you trust Christ, you will have a charmed life" many have said this. But is it true? Do we have a fragrance of the gospel in any time?

Vs.8 Only used here any where in the new testament. " loud proclamation, echoing out ". Like rolling thunder. Made them want to say, "what is that?". Good news must be shared. If you were facing a deadly disease, and there was a cure.

Authentic christian faith by it's very nature is contagious.

*Literary note.* Turning, serving, waiting.

• Turning from idols.

What am I looking for in an idol that the gospel that the gospel gives in much greater measure?

It's not just to say no to the idol, but to pursue the greater pleasure of the gospel.

• serving the living God

Master Jesus invites us to enter his yoke of apprenticeship. To live as God designed us in the Garden.

• waiting for Jesus

A change of Hope. Hymn. " rock of ages".
Not with pacivity but with activity

What changes are you longing for?

Have you braced the gospel?
Has it changed you?
