Meditation: Isaac's servant proceeded in obedience and faith. He had a mission, and he was true to it.

God blessed His efforts. Isaac gave him a charter based on God's statement to Isaac. Isaac showed the focus and devotion to God needed for God to confer a blessing. No obedience, no devotion, and no faith, then no blessing. God cannot bless someone who is not aligned with God's purpose to confer a true blessing for God's own glory. And what is God's purpose? To love his people. Incredible but true.

Prayer figured heavily in this event. The Servant sought and received direction and confirmation through prayer. He asked for a sign, a way of being told: This is the One, and God answered. Oh, how wonderfully gracious!
