Everyone Must

At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn of the prisoner, who was in the dungeon, and the firstborn of all the livestock as well. (Exodus 12:29 NIV84)

This verse points out that no matter who you are or what you have achieved… without Jesus… without the forgiveness of your sins… without your penalty being paid … everyone will have to pay!

Pharaoh achieved so much and he was used to being in control…
The prisoner had no legacy and was controlled… but each one had to pay for their sin before God!

Only the blood of Jesus can keep you from the facing the penalty of your sin!

Firstborns in Hebrew culture were the ones who carried responsibility for the rest of the family. This is why they received a double portion… because if anyone in the family got into trouble or debt… they were responsible!

Jesus is our firstborn… who took responsibility for our sins and went to the cross for us!
