Test yourself

By encouraging us to examine ourselves, Paul is saying that it is possible to fail the test, thinking we are in the faith when we actually are not. It seems we have made it really easy to become a Christian. All someone needs to do is to pray a few simple words. Unless the words are accompanied by repentance, they are meaningless. And without the fruits of repentance, a truly changed life by the Spirit, we fail this test.
