modern idols?
It's super easy to see how the Israelites messed up by adopting Canaanite ways when they came to the promise land. I wonder how much we adopt modern practices that are equally displeasing to God? (wasn't this the aim of the fundamentalist movement? I can only hope it started out as a means of honoring God by separating oneself from pagan culture - regardless of where it ended up) I suppose the best tool we've got now is the Holy Spirit to slap us around when we're grieving God.
