Redistribution of Wealth is Evil
Everyone knows in their heart that taking that which was earned from the earner and giving it to the slacker is wrong. It's stealing in my mind. But what is it in God's mind? Are we supposed to just give everything we work for to those who lack? What about the ones who don't want to work as opposed to the ones who are truly victims of the financial terrorism brought on them by the policies of those in positions of governance and authority? In prayer, I asked God how He felt about it. Due to the dismantling of the American economy being a main policy of the current occupiers of the US federal government and with elections coming up, returning to the Word of God is the one and only thing that can heal this country.
The Lord pointed me to Ecclesiastes chapter 2 (verses 21 thru 24) for His answer. It is not merely vanity, but it is "evil" to take the result of one's labor and give it to a "man who has not labored".
God's Word is in action every day in our physical lives. He has declared something evil, then people decide to do it anyway, and the result is always the same - sin against our fellow man and against God Himself. No one wins.
I believe it was Mark Twain who said, "Those who rob from Peter to give to Paul can always count on the support of Paul." It may have been an effective way to buy votes in 2008, but the results of this evil are felt all around us and seen on the news everyday in the massive amount of foreclosures and unemployment, increased taxation and government takeovers of major industries (Financial, Automotive, Healthcare, etc.) and the driving up of prices to create a recession, forcing people to be enslaved to the Federal Government for their sustenance, instead of working and living a life of strength and independence that comes through the grace of God and the truth of His Word.
It is just as important to refrain from judging our brothers and sisters without removing the plank from our own eye first as it is to honor life and to love one another. We must be true to God's word in all facets of our lives, including who we decide to put in positions of power and political governance. After all, God is faithful to us in all the facets of our lives. Shouldn't we afford Him the same honor, if not more?
