Redemptive Glory
The Gospel is a story of redemption made from many stories of redemption. Everywhere I turn in Scripture, there I see God's redemptive nature at work. I am always amazed at the special blessings this God of the Beatitudes releases at times of death and mourning. Obviously that redemptive nature does not always add up to a resurrection like this one. But make no mistake, I constantly see evidence of renewed spiritual life in many during times of mourning over the loss of a loved one. It is why, perhaps strangely or perhaps not, one of my favourite times of ministry is at funerals. God's Spirit moves mightily in those times of deepest sadness. It's amazing!
