1 Sam 27-29 - David in Philistine country

David fleas Israel with his nearly 600 men to Philistine country. He has good relations with the king of Gath, who gives him a place to say. David lives there over a year while Saul gives up his search for David. As the Philistines are headed into battle again the Philistine commanders catch wind that David is among them. They are afraid that David may turn on them. At this point David really had no where to go. His own country wasn't safe because Saul was after him, and the Philistine's (the land of his enemy's) didn't want him because they were afraid David would turn on them. The whole time God was protecting David from having to fight against his own country. God was "testing" David. Building character, restraint, perseverance, and trust... preparing him to be the next king of Israel. What might God be putting us through now to test us? To build character and perseverance? I heard a statistic yesterday that nearly HALF of the entire worlds wealth has evaporated since last summer. So many are without work. Families are struggling. More and more people are looing to government for answers and solutions instead of seeking the Lord. Are these the birth pains of the end of days? With all that is happening in the world today what is God preparing us for as individuals? Are we ready for the return of Christ? We MUST repent of any sin and seek the Lord for his guidance to get us through these challenging times. We MUST keep an eternal perspective. GOD IS in control. This world IS temporary. Do you KNOW Christ? Do you seek him? He IS and soon will be ALL that matters.
