Impatience Bites!
They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!" Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people. (Numbers 21:4-7 NIV)
We Become Impatient When:
* We impose what we think should happen / what we think God should do - in our circumstances (which if you think of it is extremely arrogant)
* When we take our focus off Jesus and place our focus on circumstances
* When we listen to negative voices
The Result of Impatience:
* Our hearts & perspective (these people complained about the miraculous provision that God had brought to them!!!) becomes corrupted
* We begin to despise the things of God and the blessings He has given to us (they detested the miraculous food!)
* We loose trust and respect for God and His leadership (through those He appointed)
* We lead others attitudes and behaviors astray
* We (and the others) suffer by removing ourselves from blessing - there is no curse in Jesus!
