Pride and Blame Shifting

      1. 1. Sarai: Didn't trust God to fulfill His promise so she gave Hagar to Abram

        2. Hagar became prideful when she discovered she was pregnant.

        3. Sarai blamed Abram

        4. Abram reminded Sarai it was her plan, not his

        5. Instead of correcting or teaching Hagar, she began treating her harshly she ran away

        6. Hagar is confronted by the angel

        7. Name the son Ishmael (God hears)

        8. She asks the question: Are you the God who sees me?

        9. Angel commands her to return and submit to authority.

        Lesson: Be careful to whom you give responsibility. Did Sarai know Hagar well enough to give her the assignment to carry a promise.
