Timing of it all?
So the graves were open and the dead were raised in verse 52, which indicates that this action occurred when the veil of the temple was torn (at the time of Jesus' death). But then v. 53 indicates that these folks didn't come out of the graves until after His resurrection (on Sunday/Easter morning). How, exactly, did that work? This is one of those mysteries that, while the details probably don't matter all that much, is incredibly fascinating, and I can't wait to talk with some of these people and their families when I get to Heaven. Bottom line, though -- what an awesome and powerful God that He has completely conquered both sin AND the grave!
