we don't need Him

I'm always struck by Jesus' teaching here. I'm convinced that I have severely devalued Christ's atonement on my behalf b/c most of the time I don't think I need it. Of course, when I'm thinking straight and all prim and proper I know it to be true. But really, I NEED Him. This passage is a stellar argument for confession. The kind of confession that drives you to tears. If we felt smaller, He would feel bigger. If we lamented our sin, redemption would power through. I hope to live more routinely amazed about God's forgiveness in my life.
