Week 2 How 2 Defend against Satan" Full Armor of God "Shod our feet with the gospel of peace"
Week 2
{Ephesians 6: 13-17 Read 2 Class!!!}
REMINDER!!!- THIS IS NOT TEMPORARY ARMOR THAT WE ARE PUTTING ON!!! THIS IS ARMOR THAT WE MUST WEAR FOR LIFE!!!
1. " Having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace"--
AMPLIFIED says this means to face the enemy with the firm footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news...
***These shoes were thick- soled boots that enable the Roman soldiers to walk over all types of terrain and the boots even had some type of meatl in them; which kept them from slipping on rocks and uneven slopes...
*** These boots were built to hold up, to be sturdy, so that they could march and march moving farther and faster to surprise their enemies...
*** The Roman soldies were able to cover and conquer so much territory because of their adequate shoes...
What is the gospel of peace reffering too in this scripture??
***It does not mean get ready to preach, nor does it mean peace between 2 people or nations... But it refers to the good news of Jesus' provision for our peace with God...
***Basically... It means if we know Christ, then we are guaranteed the peace from God to be in our lives! And since we have the peace and know what the peace is, then we should share and prepare others that do not have it-- with it!! Let them know how to get the peace we have...
*** WE must not go into battle against the devil with fear in our hearts...
1. Fear disables and paralyzes...
2. Fear keeps us from taking the decisive action that wins a spiritual battle...
3. Fear clouds the memory and keeps us from making sound , rational, Bible-based decisions...
*** When we enter battle with the devil we are to face him with the calm assurance that Jesus knows all about the situation and has already defeated him.. THE BATTLE IS NOT OURS, BUT HE WHOM STRENGHTENS ME...
***Did you know that part of the preperation of the gospel of peace is to prepare to face death. which is inevitable ( un-avoidable) for every person...
***As Christians, we should prepare ourselves for persecution...
***We need to prepare to face hard times, in which all people face...
Guess what!! by shoding our feet with the preperation of the gospel of peace, we are assured of the inner deepness of peace even through the toughest and hardest raging storms... This kind of peace only comes through knowing our Savior personally and having an intimate relationship with Him...
***Even though unexpected things occur like, unexpected bills, lawsuits, accidents, sudden illnesses, breakdown of pieces of equipment, etc, we must know that this is just debrie from the battle and we must push on with the strengh and peace of Jesus Christ.
****3 things that I would like to share involving this statement: " having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace"
1. We must accept the fact that "I am in Christ, Christ is in me"..this must be our stance
We must actively accept His Peace- recognize it, take His peace as our own, and apply His Peace to our lives...
Example:: when somebody speaks evil against us or curses us, we must..... use kind words
when someone insults us, we must... respond with gentleness...
when someone critisizes us in a sharp manner, we are to.. be patient and listen to them and respond with mercy and forgiveness....
2. We are the ones that have to set our minds and hearts in advance, so that when troubles and adversity hits, we were prepared and already have the peace...
Having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace means that anywhere we go, rather it be an auditorium, business meeting, grocery store, every home, doctor's office, etc. we must have the intension and desire to bring God's peace into that place....
We must always run the race, and walk out our relationship with God...
A. the fact is that if we do not have peace, we will not leave the house or set out to run any race...
B. Without peace, we will not stand against someone speaking or ridiculing the things of God....
C. without peace, we will not set out for a mission field, give sacrificially, take an unpopular stand for Christ, or even use their talents for the Kingdom...
***Peace is the foundation for courage, confidence, and risktaking in your witness of Jesus Christ to this world...
3. Third, Our final goal to having having shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace is: to allow anybody that is experienceing fear, anxiety, or worry, the opportunity to know Christ and that He is the Prince of Peace...
*** We are to see that they experience the peace of God in their hearts...
*** we are to know and let them know that peace is a person- it is Jesus-- Jesus is our peace...
Conclusion::
Always ON!!!
We are to always walk out our days with these 3 pices of armor on:
1. belt of truth
2. breastplate of righteousness
3. shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace..
***Truth, Righteousness, and Peace are three essential weapons against the devil...
***Like the Roman soldiers, they never took off these three pieces of armor, and we as CHristians fighting this battle should not either..
3 scripture when in battle, if you need peace and assurance..
1. Proverbs 3: 5-6
2. Romans 8:28
3. Phillipians 4:13
