Leviathan

Now, the Leviathan is subject to a great deal of speculation. Strong's concordance defines leviathan as "a wreathed animal, that is, a serpent (especially the crocodile or some other large sea monster)" I lean more towards a dragon/sea monster.

Now let's take a look at the crocodile. Verse 5 ask if you play with it, so I assume this gives it an aggressive demeanor. Both fit that description. Croc 1, dragon 1. Verse 13; Who can penetrate to the inside of its armor. OK, both have thick scaled hide. Croc 2, Dragon2. Verse 14: Fearsome teeth; Croc 3 Dragon 3. Verse 19, "Out of its mouth go flames." Now, I don't know of any crocodile that spits fire. Croc 3, Dragon 4. It then goes on to talk about it not fearing, iron, arrows and such. OK, maybe a little over dramatic for a croc, but ok. Then it talks about it moving through the water, "Behind him he leaves a shining wake; one would think the deep to be white-haired. " Crocs don't move that fast, though they can. Something moving fast enough to leave a white wave has to be traveling over 10 knots.. and likely closer to 20 to have a really white wake. But the one phrase that gets me, "There is nothing like it on earth." There are other things like crocodiles. Some even nastier. But there is nothing like Leviathan.

To me, this is a dragon. Pure and simple. One that lived in the seas. Likely, the biggest of any or all dragons, but a reference to them, having existed. My thoughts.
