Freedom & Opportunity
Paul is going to great lengths to explain our freedom from the law God gave us. And he felt it important, too, to explain that the freedom we have is not license, like most people understand freedom.
You see, especially here in the U.S., we take our freedoms so far, we call them "rights"; it is our right to free speech, our right of freedom of religion. There are just a few people who understand freedom "from" something. So it's likely we would take this freedom, and apply it as an opportunity to enjoy sin without consequences. But there is no such reality, and that's what Paul explains here.
