Again Hagar was sent away, now with her son Ishmael. She wandered aimlessly in the wilderness (Gen 21:14) and ran out of water.
She had no hope that her son would survive, but then an angel appeared to her and said: "Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. Go to him and comfort him, for I will make a great nation from his descendants” (Gen 21:17-18 NLT). And then supernaturally a well of water appeared (Gen 21:19).
God cares for the rejected and the unwanted! He was with the boy, even though he lived in the desert (Gen 21:20).
