My Response

Numbers 14:1-9... Starts off with "ALL NIGHT LONG the people cried in distress.  They COMPLAINED against MOses and Aaron..."  I don't know about you but my first reaction is to DEFEND myself, to RETALIATE when someone wants to criticize, complain and put me down.  However, what does MOSES and AARON do?  In verse 5:  "Moses and Aaron bowed to the ground IN FRONT OF ALL the people."  And then Joshua and Caleb TORE THEIR CLOTHES IN SORROW.  I have got to fight back that urge to fight back, to bow up, to defend whatever I'm doing or saying.  Humility.  Humbleness.  They HUMBED themselves in front of the people.  The same people that wanted them dead, they were about to STONE them to DEATH-- they BOWED in front of them.

And it doesn't stop there... When GOD was fed up with them, ready to destroy them with an epidemic (vs 12)-- Moses steps in and INTERCEDES for the people.

Can I do that?  When I am being tore down, talked about, criticized, stabbed in the back-- Can I humble myself and then intercede for the same people who hate me?

God, Help me to have the RIGHT RESPONSE.  Holy Spirit, you know me and how I am.  Help me have self-control.  To not be short tempered.  Remind me to Humble myself and to INTERCEDE for those who persecute me.
