Real needs
My God pursues me passionately! When I walk away from Him to follow my own agendas or to do things my way, He keeps coming after me. Just like he did with His people throughout the Old Testament, He refuses to give up as He understands the full weight of eternal consequences. And just as He proved through the ministry of Jeremiah's life, when He finally catches my attention, He meets my spiritual needs first! He begins to remove those things, I've made more important than Him. To the paralytic..."Son, your sins are forgiven." Not his legs. Wow. To the people of Judah... "'The time is coming,' declares the LORD, 'when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah."' Not their city, or temple, or kingdom. God is willing to set aside what we want for what we need. He is even willing to painfully remove those distractions in order for us to have nothing left, but Him. What a good and loving God to come after me like that!
