Matthew 9:11 ESV, Matthew 9:12 ESV and Matthew 9:13 ESV

In these verses we see Jesus healing a man who is a paralytic, and forgiving his sins. We also see Jesus calling Matthew to follow him and be one of his disciples.

Jesus demonstrates his authority on earth by forgiving the man's sins. This is important because most of us our inaffective for the Kingdom of God due to being sick on the inside and crippled on the outside. The only one that can set us free from our sinful condition is Jesus. He meet us in our mess. Jesus is also pointing out that our sins can cause physical problems. Depression, anger, resentment and bitterness can lead to health problems such as cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc.
