Internet Memes
These two verses tend to pop up a lot as memes and status updates around the social media sphere. People tend to tote them out as a high water mark for their faith, that they are indeed proclaiming Christ to the masses. But I feel that the original quotation carried a bit more weight with it.
These were men who were dealing with the very real threat of persecution. Dying simply because they proclaimed the name of Christ. We might get made fun of or "de-friended" on Facebook. And what is worse, often I will see someone place this up as their measuring rod, and surrounding it will be garbage and filth that someone proclaiming Christ has no business posting on their wall.
Standing for Christ means so much more than a status message. It is a nice start, but there is so much more...
